PAPUA NEW GUINEA COCOA >85% FINE FLAVOUR

Cocoa

In PNG, ~150,000 families or ~2 million people are involved in cocoa. It is grown in 14 out of 22 provinces, and main producers are ESP, AROB, Madang, ENB, Morobe, WNB and NIP. In recent years, new growth areas like the Waghi (Jiwaka) and Karamui (Simbu) started growing cocoa. The Governments target is to get 310,000 tonnes of dry bean cocoa by 2030. As such, the PNG Cocoa Board Strategic Plan 2016-2025 tries to address this through various programs like:1. Nurseries and clone seedlings2. Freight surety and subsidy3. Market development and exports4. Processing and value addition The cocoa industry has its own challenges, like pests/diseases to production, pricing, marketing, and lack of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Cocoa processing into food and industrial items has also remained under-utilized, and need investments to realize the full potential of cocoa industry in PNG. Our company operates in Morobe and Sepik regions of PNG, works directly with smallholder cocoa farmers to produce and supply only the best quality cocoa to world markets. In 2024, we are implementing the PNG Agriculture Commercialization and Diversification (PACD) cocoa project in the Wampar (Huon Gulf), Wain/Erap (Nawaeb) and Umi Atzera (Markham) Districts, Morobe.
